GODS COGS

The last few weeks have felt like high class British porn (see below) but they are good to go and look mean as.

Here’s the deal.

We can now accept orders and will ship as of mid next week using 7 day insured courier service. Remember quantities are not limited but my capacity to make them fast enough might be, so get in quick and get your name on a hub if you want one from the first batch. I will only accept your hard earned cash if I am able to supply without delay and will let anyone know if stocks run out and how long the delay will be. Those who have already made contact, you get first dibs so I will give you all an extra day to jump the queue presuming there is one??

Hubs will be shipped with full lacing instructions which I’ll post up somewhere here shortly. Initial colors are silver, black and a sweet looking gunmetal (good idea Alex). I can do custom stuff like polished or pink if you’re willing to pay and wait – hit me up. You can order with or without the primo Zipp track nuts if you wanna save a few bucks, in fact I have limited numbers of these so this would actually be a help.

Standard retail is $US200, plus cog and bolts $25, plus $30 track nuts, plus $25 shipping to the US/Asia/Europe.

The first 15 hubs sold, get cog, bolts and shipping free! So that’s $230 with track nuts, $200 without, a saving of US$50, hope that helps.

I should make two things crystal;

  1. I am not pretending to be a big time manufacturer but will always strive to produce a product I am proud to be associated with and confident to use on my own bikes. Look at my bikes, I’m a fussy bugger but if you’re concerned it won’t meet your expectations then don’t send me money.
  2.  Like any wheel, many variables such as rim condition, your wheel building skills or the size of your half pipe could all lead to premature failure. I will not accept damaged hubs returned for credit or replacement but will endeavour to correct any obvious manufacturing fault should something slip through the cracks.

If I still haven’t put you off, send me an enquiry or use the ordering page if I can get it working tonight. I will reply with a confirmation and my paypal account details. Your order is not secure until funds have been received. Don’t forget to tell me your requirements for color and number of teeth for the cog. Distributor enquiries welcome if you'r legit.

Wicked.

Cogs and in fact all the bits are in! Will post an early bird deal mid next week and hit up first all the cool dudes from every corner of the globe that have sent in enquiries for first dibs.
The cogs are laser cut by Chris on his google$$ machine in Christchurch from 3mm 304 stainless steel. We have been rockin them for a couple of years now on MTB hub conversions and they still look brand new. We hand finish the tips of the teeth and Chris has perfected the design to a point of drive train silence.

Hi I am Brendan, a good friend of Adams. A while ago he asked if I could help him out with a logo for Gods Cogs in return for him converting a crappy old Diamond ISO hub into a custom fixed cog. The result was awesome so I became highly interested in his potential to make something out of his talent and skill. I remember telling him he should make his own hub and a couple of days later he said he couldn't sleep because of me, I'd kept him up all night, the first time I've had that effect on a guy, ha ha. He had this plan to make what is now the hubs we are seeing. I am glad I've pushed him and with Chris's help also I think we're all on to a good thing.

Anyways, I'm graduating with a BFA this year and as part of a workshop we have just completed we had to create a website for our own work. I'm not all that web savvy so I opted to use a weebly.com account. It does what I want to do and is quite easy. So the link to my website is on the right or through this link. Be patient though, all the work I want up there isn't there because as you can imagine I am busy finishing off my grad year, but it's there anyways, feel free to contact me if you'd like me to do some work for you, no job to big or small.

Cheers, peace.

The last hand made custom set and the 1st front! Gloss black all round and look closely at my crappy camera skills for copper plated nipples. For a full custom ride, an honour indeed.
Sorry to those waiting patiently - clapped eyes on the bearing bushes in the CNC today so just around the corner. Will advise shortly a special introductory early bird offer for the keen.

OK well off topic but if you didnt already know we live in the most beautiful country in the  world - New Zealand. I just had a weekend R&R  with the fam in Queenstown near the bottom of the South Island where much of Lord of the Rings was shot. That shits not computor generated, I woke up to this every morning from my hotel apartment - its good to be alive. Took my 2 boys (7 and 10) snow boarding for the first time. It rocks being a Dad, 2 little fellas ripped up the spags on the learner slopes, no lessons required. Cant wait till next year. As soon as you have bought a hub you had better start saving for a trip to NZ, hit me up for some hook ups....

Drive Side
  • 3 x 78mm equal sized, equally spaced flanges. Stretched as wide as is possible while allowing a 42mm chain line. When built, is perfectly symetrical with zero dishing. The basis of my international design registration that mainly serves to inflate my ego.
  • 1.5mm lip inside the iso cog mount centers the cog without relying on the bolts. A short coming on the MTB hub conversions ive been doing. Even a tiny amount of slop around the bolts would result in varying chain tension - no more.

Picture
Non Drive Side.
  • Large holes between the spoke holes serve to allow safe passage for the center spokes through and paste the far side flange. Refer prototype 001, after many hours of scratching balls, couldnt even lace it! That was a bad night.
  • Sealed bearing seat 9mm deep for whopping big 30mm in diameter x 7mm wide fully sealed, non contact bearings that can be easily replaced. The extra 2mm leaves a recess for the bearing bush to sit inside and provide a nice seamless flowing line down to the lock nut.

Dropped in to see Ally machine the final drilling stage. Trick machinary, would nearly fit one of these in my bathroom.
Picture
A kind of pilot drill first drops in and leaves a indent for the 2.5mm spoke drill.

Picture
Even this tiny drill penetrates like a knife through butter. a bit different to my rattly old drill press.

Picture
Bamn, one side finished in about 1/60th of the time it takes me to drill a prototype by hand. The hub stays put, the drill head moving around the hub and swapping out drill pieces quicker than i can find the chuck key.

Picture
Shit, hope someone wants to buy one or two..... off to the anodiser.

Looks like i'm not alone when it comes to the advantages of three flanges. Reynolds build some of the most trick wheels in existance. This is their new RZR used by some of pro peleton already. Guess the haters better quickly let Reynolds and the riders that rate them know they obviously have no idea what they are doing. Notice how close the center flange is to the drive side due to heavily dished road hubs. The outside spokes are all radial by the looks, keen to try this as a radial pattern supposedly makes for better lateral stiffness. Wish i had an auto clave to cook up some carbon crazyness....
